Recently, disatisfaction over the current state of PEAR lead some to opine the need for a new PEAR. This raises many questions:
- What form should this new PEAR take
- Do we scrap the current project and effort and start anew
- Do we refactor the existing code?
- Do we thoroughly understand the problems that led to the current state in order to avoid repeating them?
- Are we certain the steps we take will not lead to different problems that cause a similar outcry in the future?
