Blogging and comment spam

Switching from BLOG:CMS to bBlog has an interesting effect. Suddenly my site is deluged with comment spam. Thankfully I mark all comments containing hyperlinks as needing approval before posting. With BLOG:CMS I received not one spam comment in the year I used it. Today I checked the comment moderation section. 235 comments awaiting approval, all spam.
What accounts for this sudden upsurge in just 1 week? bBlog uses the Moveable Type and Blogger API’s. This allows for easy posting and blog manipulation. And is also vulnerable to spam.
With this I have a need to an adjustment in the admin interface: a way to mass approve/delete comments.
